About Arcturus

The Arcturus Chamber Ensemble was founded by Sarah Darling in the fall of 2000 when she invited a bunch of her friends out to her home in Carlisle, Massachusetts to play chamber music. It differs from the way Sarah routinely invites friends over to play chamber music in that there are anywhere from 8 to 15 friends involved at a time, and the friends stay over for a week. And there are concerts.

In other words, Arcturus is a chamber music festival that happens two to three times a year. The musicians come from all over, including Juilliard, Rice, New England Conservatory, the Royal College of Music in London, the Virginia Symphony, and Microsoft (to name just a few). When they're not at Arcturus, the performers are students, professional musicians, or professionals at something else entirely (such as computer programming). More about the performers

The Darling Family

Eric, Sarah and Margaret Darling

The Darling family has graciously offered their home for two or three weeks each of the last several years so that Arcturus members have a place to eat, sleep and rehearse. The Arcturus Chamber Ensemble would not have been able to keep meeting and performing over the last several years if not for their generous support.
